This could cause confusion for fans who are locked into the title. While it may not seem like a big deal to fans, some publishers may frown on the idea of simply taking the same name and slapping it on their iteration of the concept. The term GM Mode comes from the WWE games franchise when it was published by THQ. The reason being, publishers are big on branding. When it arrives in WWE 2K22, it may not be called GM Mode.

For this reason, GM Mode or the equivalent is a virtual lock.

If 2K had no intentions of including GM mode, something identical or expanded, it is highly unlikely Gilmore tweets those results. When you combine the time 2K has taken to develop and release WWE 2K22 with the failures of WWE 2K20, the extra power provided by next-gen consoles, and the fact that the man in charge literally shared the data confirming the mode is a top priority from the community, it’s hard to imagine a more clear target for the development team to hit.
